prepCheck 5: Computer-aided training system is now compatible with Primescan

Clinic Solutions

Preparations are an integral part of daily dentistry. And as such, also an essential part of dental training. To ensure high-end results and skillful application, universities need to make new technologies and product updates available to students in university labs. Equally important for a profound training is the feedback from university tutors – but with increasing numbers of students in the field of dentistry, it becomes more difficult to evaluate and discuss students’ work.

With prepCheck, Dentsply Sirona offers a computer-aided training system for a new way of simplified learning for clinical and pre-clinical use. After the latest product upgrade this year, prepCheck5 is now also compatible with Primescan.

How prepCheck works

prepCheck offers a fully automatic 3D analysis and works as a combination of the scanners Primescan or Omnicam, the acquisition center and analysis software. Suitable for the conditions of university teaching, it can be connected to simulation workstations.

After creating the preparation or filling, the student scans the result with Primescan or Omnicam. With various interactive and automatic tools, the software assesses and documents the result. By this, students receive prompt and valid feedback to learn from.

First university trial of the new prepCheck in combination with Primescan

Martha Seif, master dental technician at Austrian Danube Private University (DPU) Krems who was among the first to test this new version of the prepCheck software in combination with Primescan in a student curriculum on CEREC, said, “For our students, the handling of the new intraoral scanner Primescan, the manual creation, and the evaluation of preparations – all of those came together for a remarkable experience and a useful addition to the curriculum. With the latest version prepCheck5, the new touch screen on the unit also offers a significant improvement for modelling and refining dental crowns. The extremely positive feedback from our students has confirmed our decision to continue integrating CAD/CAM technologies into trainings.”
