This mastery-level course will challenge clinicians with a comprehensive discussion of bone grafting materials and grafting techniques, which includes socket preservation, horizontal ridge augmentation, and internal and external sinus augmentation. Specific attention will be given to immediate placement/loading and the esthetic zone.
At the completion of this level, participants will have a better understanding of graft materials and techniques. Participants are encouraged to continue their education in Level 8, which will focus on management of complications.

Dr. Tara Aghaloo is a Professor in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the UCLA School of Dentistry. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Her clinical practice focuses on bone and soft tissue regeneration and dental implants. She is also active in professional organizations where she is Past President of the AO, a member of several AAOMS committees, Section Editor of IJOMI, and a member of PEERS North America. She lectures nationally and internationally on dental implant surgery and tissue regeneration, including alveolar ridge augmentation, sinus grafting, growth factors, complex implant therapy, and periimplantitis.
Dr. David Barack studied Biomedical Engineering at Northwestern University before being accepted to the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry in 1978. After completing his doctoral studies, Dr. Barack opted to pursue further education in the field of Periodontics, completing a residency in at the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1984. He received his Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology in 1991. While at the University of Illinois at Chicago, Dr. Barack served as an assistant clinical professor for the college of Dentistry from 1984 to 1997.
While in private practice, Dr. Barack incorporated implant surgical techniques into his practice beginning with Implant Surgical Training at the University of Texas, San Antonio in 1987. For the past 30-plus years, Dr. Barack has focused his periodontal practice on implant surgery and supportive reconstructive surgical procedures. Over the past ten years, he has refined surgical techniques related to esthetic implant results and the immediate provisionalization of dental implants for the edentulous arches. Dr. Barack has also volunteered his services for needy patients in the Chicagoland area and traveled as far as Honduras to offer dental mission care. In addition to his teaching duties at the University of Illinois College Of Dentistry, Dr. Barack has authored clinical papers and lectured across the nation on implant surgical techniques and related topics.
Dr. Rodrigo Neiva earned his certificate and Master’s degree in Periodontics from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and of the International Congress of Oral Implantology. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Dentists and the Pierre Fauchard Academy. Dr. Neiva served as Professor and Director of the Graduate Program in Periodontics of the University of Florida College of Dentistry until September 2019. He is currently Chairman of the Department of Periodontics at Penn Dental Medicine. He is active in clinical research related to bone and soft tissue augmentation, as well as novel techniques in Implant and Periodontal Therapy. Dr. Neiva has published more than 50 scientific papers and book chapters in the fields of Periodontics and Oral Implantology. He also lectures frequently both nationally and internationally.
