Dentsply Sirona proudly supports World Oral Health Day 2022
As part of Dentsply Sirona’s sustainability strategy, “Beyond: Taking action for a brighter world,” the company has committed to promoting World Oral Health Day 2022 and its aim of raising awareness of oral health as a key factor in living a longer, healthier life.
Charlotte. Dentsply Sirona, the world’s largest manufacturer of professional dental products and technologies, has announced today its commitment to promote World Oral Health Day 2022. This pledge aligns fully with Dentsply Sirona’s sustainability strategy & program. At the core of the company’s “Beyond: Taking action for a brighter world” strategy is the ambition to lead the transformation towards a sustainable dentistry and to create 25 million healthy smiles by 2025.
“At Dentsply Sirona, we are determined to go above and beyond when it comes to making a positive impact on the oral health – and the quality of life – of people around the world. Oral health is central to every person’s overall health, happiness and well-being and we are proud to support World Oral Health Day 2022” says Don Casey, Chief Executive Officer, Dentsply Sirona.
For World Oral Health Day 2022, which will be celebrated on March 20th, Dentsply Sirona has partnered with the World Dental Federation (FDI), to support this effort and raise awareness of its mission on this day – and throughout the year. Amongst other things, Dentsply Sirona is the award sponsor for the campaign’s best branded photo award, celebrating people who got the best use out of the World Oral Health Day brand in a single snapshot, while engaging and inspiring others to look after their oral health. Further guidelines can be found on the campaign website (worldoralhealthday.org/award-categories). The award winners will be revealed in June 2022 by FDI.
Those interested in joining the effort to promote World Oral Health Day can follow the #WOHD22 campaign as well as Dentsply Sirona and FDI media for more information. Dentsply Sirona will announce further activities around World Oral Health Day in due time.
Dentsply Sirona already works on creating healthy smiles by supporting the life-changing work of Smile Train, the world’s largest cleft-focused non-profit organization. As part of a five-year cooperation and a five million dollar donation, Dentsply Sirona helps children around the world gain access to cleft treatment and offer them the chance to live a happier and healthier life.
“Our purpose is to create smiles for people globally by providing the means to increase oral health and make millions of lives healthier and happier,“ says Jorge M. Gomez, Chief Financial Officer and Head of the Dentsply Sirona Sustainability Program. “This spirit can be felt in everything we do and lives at the heart of our innovations such as Primescan and the SureSmile Clear Aligners which help dental professionals make oral health more accessible to patients worldwide.”
“We are delighted that Dentsply Sirona has joined forces with us to promote World Oral Health Day,” says Prof. Ihsane Ben Yahya, President of FDI World Dental Federation. “The impact of good oral health on overall health, happiness and well-being is often overlooked – we need to change this. Governments are starting to recognize oral health as a priority issue thanks to the WHO resolution adopted in May 2021, which is a significant step in the right direction. By working together across stakeholder groups, in celebration of World Oral Health Day, we can build on this momentum to help spread awareness and put oral health on everyone’s agenda.”
